Cruise control recall

That switch/sensor receives constant power to it. If the fluid leaks out of the top and gets to that electrical power source, fire can result. The fuse(not fusible link) will blow immediately before any fire can start. Regards,

New SCDS

Where can a replacement SCDS or the fuse jumper harness be purchased? I realize doing the replacement myself means that if a fire occurred Ford would point to my installation, but that notwithstanding, I would like to consider doing it myself (I have confidence in my own work, but none in my local dealer)

If you can identify the one power wire of the two, and accept that Ford blame you thing, add an inline fuse to that feed wire. Unplug that switch connector when you hunt the power wire, only one will be powered unplugged. Regards,

What I don't understand is if Ford is the only car made that makes you actually turn on the cruise to set it, how is this such a dangerous situation?

Even with the cruise control off, the circuit is still "live," meaning it's still getting power from the batt EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND KEYS OUT OF IGNITION. Weird huh. The danger is that brake fluid could leak onto the cruise control wiring harness nearby, shorting and causing a fire. This is the purpose of the fusible link. I got my recall done at Honolulu Ford and they were done in a half-hour (you shoulda seen the line of Explorers, Rangers, And F150's waiting to get checked in for this recall)...

I called on my letter and they said they would be out of parts until March......They said I could bring it in to have the switch disconnected that is around or on the master cylinder? Can someone tell me (or pics) what I need to disconnect so I dont have to go to the dealership.

yeah a photo essay would be helpful. I just got my explorer a month ago and have no idea what TSB's have been done...I do see a wire tie over in that area...
