2004 Sport Trac steering wheel switch...Rockauto says Motorcraft number is SW5928 fits my application, but Amazon's fitment guide says it doesn't ...anyone know for sure?

The brake master cylinder switch works OK, and I can't find anything else inop. I get no lights on the dash at any time. Nada. Are the steering wheel switches supposed to be backlit (mine aren't)? Should I get a light on dash indicating cruise is "on" when the On switch is pressed (I don't).

Since mine have never worked - bought used - do you select On first, then Set? Does this turn on dash cruise light?

Since everything else is working that is mentioned in the numerous failure posts, can it be anything other than the actual switch/harness?

Thanks - I've read hundreds of posts with most issues being resolved by the master cylinder pressure switch ...others on switches themselves not completely clear on the troubleshooting process.

Found a manual online ...says turn On, then Set ACC and then get light ... above 30 mph ...still don't get any light or indication of operation when I tried this.

I've put off working on this for 4 years due to remodeling on the house. Sigh.

Thanks!

Now is the funny time ....I had not tested the pressure switch prior to pulling, cleaning and smacking it with a ball peen hammer a few times ...so, presumed when I put it back it and it tested positive, that it was previously ok ...well ...

Finally got time for test drive today and hit On ...then Set ACC ...viola ...works 4.0 ....I HOPE I actually fixed it and had simply not been able to correctly operate it over the past four FREAKING YEARS!!!!! Green speedo icon only comes on when the Set ACC switch is pressed following the On switch.

Sheesh.

I'd be much more inclined to trust RockAuto's fit guides. I find unless they state "Representative Photo", their images are usually very accurate. That's why I will always check RA for fitment, then compare Amazon's pricing including shipping. Compare pics in links below with yours.

Maybe contact RockAuto or Fordparts.com using your VIN?
