My wife lost the rubber piece that covers up the cruise control switch on the right side of the steering wheel on her 98 explorer and I think it is only sold as a unit and you can't replace the rubber cover so how do you get to the 2 screws that hold the cruise control switch to the steering wheel. Anybody have a writeup or can explain this to me?? Thanks!

Welcome to the site. There is a lot of info on cruise control switches here. Usually the bulbs go out and need to be replaced but the procedure is the same. If you search the site for cruise control switches you find what you're looking for.

Here's one thread I found but there are many others if it doesn't help... scroll down to the 4th post for instructions:

It's actually very easy to get to the switches... remember to make sure to disconnect the battery since you'll need to remove the air bag module and you don't want to set it off.

Good luck

Thanks for the response!!! That is exactly what I was looking for but I couldn't find it with the search. I have the plastic piece that fell off so I guess all I have to do is disconnect the airbag to get to the switches better and then put the rubber plastic piece back on... Thanks again!
