My wife took our 2007 Mountaineer to the shop today and had, among other things, the plugs replaced. Our mechanic used whatever the current "updated" Motorcraft plugs are for the 4.6 V-8. By the time she got home, it was misfiring and the CEL was on, code P0305.
I swapped the 5 and 6 coils, no change in the code. So talking to our mechanic, he thinks it might be a bad plug. Unfortunately he's off work until Monday and 30 miles away.
Since the plugs were just changed, I'm pretty sure they won't be stuck in the head and I can swap in a new plug. But what's the replacement plug? Our guy says the plug has been updated so it won't break off, but doesn't know the part number. Fordparts.com says the nearest Ford dealer has part number 12405 in stock, but says that's replaced with PZH1F. Anybody know what the correct plug is? Is it something I can get at AutoZone (which is closer than the Ford dealer)?
Also, this is a 9/16" spark plug wrench? Special tool or just a really deep 9/16" socket?
