What would be involved with installing a mtx amplified stealthbox from the stock premium sound headunit. Could you explain what wires would be needed etc. Thanks
Rob

heres one idea of many. get a line level converter and attach it to the right rear door speaker then just run your power to the sub amp and line level inputs to the amp too. tada easy way for new amped sub:)NOTE: this is the ghetto way

I believe the amplified MTX box even has high level inputs, so he doesn't even need the line level converter. You just splice from the speaker wiring and tap it right in! So you'll need only a few wires. A short bit for the tapping of speaker wire to the box, and 8-10 gauge for the power and ground. Buy a bag of rubber grommets for a buck or two as well. It's pretty straight forward, I believe.

Have fun!

So all I have to do is splice my rear right speaker wires and run them to the MTX? That sounds pretty easy. Is there a power line I can tap into back there or will I have to run a completely new line to power it. How would I control the sub as far as too much or to little, fade and balance, etc.?
Thanks
Rob

Yes? No? What do you guys think?
Thanks

yes splicing in the rear speaker may be gehtto but it works, and it works well.

ROB: you will most likely have to run a new power cable. (lemme just say this, do it right the first time and save yourself a ton of headaches in the future.) its not hard to do, its just tough getting through the firewall sometimes. when you are all hooked up/ plugged in, you will be able to adjust the volume and the levels of the sub to your liking by turning the adjustment knobs on the amp. the volume will be controlled buy the radio in the dash. hope this helps. any other questions let us know.

Does anybody know what gauge?

The amp is around 100 watts, give or take 20, so 10 should be fine, 8 will be more than enough. Perhaps you'll want 8 just in case you decide to add another amp later or something.
