Since I got my explorer back this week my mods are on the go. First thing to go in is the roll cage. Using 2" steel racing pipe I'm making my own cage. Then the interior gets gutted. All seats are being replaced with 4 Corbeau Forza racing buckets(blue cloth). Maybe a five point harness, i'm still not sure on that. Then behind the back seats my 15" rockford's will be placed there, but just enough room to make them fit and the rest of the cargo area is to be made into a tool box. Then when everything is all said and done the famous Dana 44 is being installed. Hopefully Rick will see this and maybe he can post me some good pics of his front four-link setup. I'm still tossing around some designs. Tell me what ya guys think of these mods. Any opinions welcome!! Oh!!!!! I almost forgot. I'm also doing the floor diamond plate instead of carpet. I'm thinkin of doing plugs also in the floor.

I have a 12 ton hydraulic. I'm considering just a lap belt, but I also want to be glued to the seat when the time comes.

such as another roll? i think i would go with at least a five point harness. just to be on the safe side.

5-points are good for the street but not off-road. Just get a normal lap belt and tighten it down. The sholder strap already gets in your way when you need to look out the window when wheeling I can only imagine how two straps would always hold you back.

My suggestion would be to get a 4 point system but to be able to make it only a 2 point (lap belt) when needed. Some restraint systems I've seen can do this, basically all 4 straps connect to the center connector and can be connected/disconnected individually. On the road the more straps the better, and you want shoulder belts if you're going to roll over. But it is nice to be able to reach or look out the window sometimes.

You need to go with leafs and really make that 44 move the 4link is a good set but won't move like leafs and you would be the first Explorer with a 44 and leafs. Robbie

Leafs may move but you can make a 4 link do a whole lot more. Leafs are going out as a trend and coils and coil-overs are coming in. You can get more flex with coils then with leafs if your design is good enough. Also your ride is a lot softer.
