I am thinking about building a custom lift kit to keep costs down. I want between 3 and 4 inchs of lift.

I want to either buy used 2" skyjacker coils or ss there any vehicles that you know about that I could pull the springs off the front of and put on my 91 xl to add some lift? In addition, i will be putting on some f150 coil seats.

If I used longer springs say some used 2" skyjacker springs with f150 coil seats, which would should give me 4" of lift, then I would need to lower some stuff right? pitman arm and radius arm? Would I run into any trouble with the camber adjustment?

For the back what would be the cheapest way to get 4" of lift?

This will be my first lift so any help with the specifics would be great. Has anyone done something like this before?

I have searched around on this site and found that a few people came up with their own lift. From the info that i know is that it is possible. I have in mind that i was to get f-150 shock housings and perches. After that i was looking to see if i could get a skyjacker drop down bracket for the TTB, after that do a SOA on the rear axil. for better control someone on this sit had a way to make your own extended radius arms and brackets that should get you the lift you are looking for. Oh I almost forgot when you lift the front end you also want to extend your break lines.

After I made this post I saw some skyjacker coil springs for $170, they are suppose to get 1.5-2" of lift. If I am correct the f-150 spacers get 1"? Therefore I could end up with 2.5 to 3" of lift in the front which would be great. In the back I would use an add a leaf and a shackle to even it out.

Does this sound okay?

With that I would then need to get extended brake lines like you said. Would I need to drop anything down? If I do then what and where might I find this?

you should drop the ttb down. if you just use longer springs, you will have a shorter wheel base and an awful camber. the brake lines you can get anywhere like 4wheelparts.com

with some slight modification, you can use f150 seats and coils for i believe 4 inches (not positive on that) i do know the coil seats give you 2 inches.anything more than 2 inches, your def. going to want some drop brackets, cause itll never align. and for the back, add a leaf and shackles are ok, an axle over gives you like 5.5 inches, which wouldnt be even with your front end

Careful; SOA rear axle will give you about 5-6" of lift if you are just swapping the perches to the other side and laying the axle under the Leafs. Probably too much for what you can do with the front.

thanks for the heads up. I'm in the middle of my build so i dont really know yet. the perchas are welded and set now im waiting on getting the square u bolts
