While replacing the engine, I noticed the left front axle shaft's CV boot has split and spit a bunch of grease out. Not sure how long it's been like that but I imagine the joint is shot to hell. I've had a slight grinding sound/vibration rolling from a dead stop for a while, and in the last couple of days I'm starting to get some vibration in the front floorboards at speed.

It looks like these are the basic steps...

1) Remove tire/caliper/rotor
2) Remove the axle nut
3) Remove the knuckle at the ball joints (and replace the wheel bearings/hub on the bench, based on this thread, at least as a preventative maintenance measure; I'm not sure they're bad)
4) Replace the axle shaft
5) Reassemble

Is there anything other than the knuckle assembly holding the axle in the differential (i.e. C-clips)?
