cylinder 1 and 6 misfire

Getting p301 and p306 codes engine runs rough. Does this paired misfire indicate a specific cause or problem?

96, Ranger, 3.0L,ohv,

Could be the coil pack, have you checked the resistance on it?

Cylinders 1 and 6 aren't paired on the coil pack,
at least on the later model 3.0s. I'd check the
plug wire routing first. Then the specific 1 and 6
wires and plugs, might even be a crossfire between
the two. (Observe the engine in the dark for any
random sparking.)
