Can i put a mustang 4.6l head on my 4.0l

You'll need 3 4.0L heads. You'll have to cut one up, separating the combustion chambers into individual pieces. Then you'll need to weld one combustion chamber to each of the other two heads. That way your V-6 heads (3 combustion chambers per head) will fit the 4.6L V-8 (four combustion chambers per head). I hope you are handy with a Tig maching and die grinder!

J/K it can't be done. 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder heads are not interchangeable.

Actually I've seen that done a long, long time ago. I have a copy of Hot Rod magazine from 1969 when the NHRA was a little more colorful. There was a class for 6 cylinder dragsters and a guy cut and welded a couple of Boss 302 heads and made it fit the inline Ford 6 on his dragster. The water passages lined up well enough.

But to answer the question.....No.

are you serious???
do you have any idea how a engine works or parts fit together?:thumbdwn:

Easy now, we're all here for the same reason. His "Stupid" question may someday be yours down the road.

NO!

But, if you work at the Ford R&D department, you can make a v10 from the 4.6L v8 moldings and make a badass v10 Mustang.

Admittedly it's one of those things that if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't have thought of the question in the first place. No offense.

Im glad i saw this question asked. I need to know as much as possible.

No. It would not be possible to put V8 heads on a V6.
