OK, I'm new to the D44 thing. I have D44 front axle that will be under my B2. Here's the problem. I have allready cut the tube down 6" and removed some ball joints and removed the pass side axle. On that side the Ford hub is still on the brake rotor with the studs coming thru the hub. I can not get the hub off. I know on my D35 it just slids off. So I'm not to sure about really giving it a whack if there is some internal snap ring or something still in there?
Is this just a rust/corrosion thing and some heavy prying is in order?

I had a similar problem taking off my manual Ford hubs form my '78 D44. After you take the cap screws and selector off, there is an internal snap ring that needs to be pried out before the guts will come out. The guts may still be a pain to come out though. I screwed 2 of the cap screws back in for handles and used a little mechanical agitation from a dead blow to help pop it out. One side came out fairly easy, the other side was a more of a pain and had to go chase the spring down when it came shooting out.

90ranajo, thanks for the reply, I should have been more presise. I've got the rotor and hub off of spindle. Could not get hub off rotor.
OK, got it off, did not realize that the studs pass thru the rotor which fit loose, but are slightly pressed into the hub. Just smacked the studs and they fell out leaving the hub removed from the rotor.

When you go to put it back together, ive found the easiest way to get the studs pressed back in is to just stack up a bunch of washers and run a lug nut down with the impact.

Cool, was wonder about that
