From the horse's mouth...
I sent an e-mail to Barnwell to find out about facilities. Here's the skinny.
- Hot water showers are available on-site in the men's and women's restroom at the main building
- Bathrooms in the main building have regular flushing toilets, electric plugs for hairdryers etc...
- Port-a-potties are located throughout the property in many convenient locations.
- On-site food vendor (Burgers, fries, BBQ etc - Breakfast and lunch stuff).
- A clearly marked trail system utilizing unobtrusive trail signage.
- Dry camping - either very primitive or in several club adopted improved dry campsites **See note below**
- Electric RV Camping in more then 20 electric sites located in a designated area on top of the BMRA property.
- Air Station available to refill tires at the end of your runs.
** The Xterra club has their own camp site, but my XTerra buddy says it's pretty small. With them bringing a few trucks out, and us with half a dozen folks camping, we'll probably be on our own to find a tent spot.
Johnstone I totally agree. If I could find someone to install limited slips for me for a reasonalbe price I would. So far, the quotes I've gotten are in the $1500 range.
SVO BMRA equipment requirements are for the "trail leader", so we'll be fine. I carry all the stuff they require. I'll just be the trail leader in the middle of the pack.
If you want to show up early, make sure "early" is after 6 pm Friday. That's when the gates open "officially". From what I'v read, they sometimes open an hour or so earlier, but don't count on it. Then normal on-site rep has a broken leg and the folks filling in for him are less likely to be there early.
If I can get my wife out of work early, I'll get there when the gates open, but if not, it will be about 8 pm.
