2004 Explorer Limited
Howdy folks, they call me Dan and as said, i'm an Australian. Just thought i'd share a few pictures of my recently aquired 2004 Explorer V8 Limited wagon. In australia we only got the Explorer from 1994-2004 after which we replaced it with our own Australian made Ford Territory (google is your friend). I've always liked the look of the 3rd gen (UZ as we call it) Explorer and I finally got one. I don't exactly know what I'm going to do to it as far as modifications as yet but, as I go i'll keep this thread updated. I paid $20,000Aus for it (about $21,000usd) they hold there value over here being that there isnt many other cars in the same class as the Explorer.

Welcome aboard mate!! :salute:

Sweet looking Explorer.

The Explorer is back in the shop getting the handbrake (E-Brake) repaired... Im enjoying the car thus far with the exception of the fuel consumption. any ideas on simple things i can do to improve economy? Flash tune? Exhaust? Im new to explorers but not to cars, Cheers

Just added a Sony XAV-601BT all in one head unit in place of the factory one

Looks good Dan. Did you change the speakers as well?

No speakers as yet mate... There will be an amp fitted and speakers later in the new year, maybe ill try and get the amp under the centre rear seat. I now need to figure out how to get into the tail gate and rear side panels so I can run some wiring and fit a reverse camera to the truck!

The amp and speakers, coupled with the head unit, will make a huge difference over factory.

Are you talking about getting the panels of the liftgate & inside quarter panels?

Yeah, all the plastic ones...

I should be able to post up something for you tomorrow on how to remove those bits.

That would be awesome, thanks!

Dan, I should be able to have some great info for you tonight!!

Happy New Year!

Thanks mate, also thinking down the line I might build a sub box to house a 10" and put it under the centre seat in the middle row... there seems to be enough room to do it and I dont want to waste any of my existing boot space!

Dan, check your PM. I have sent some good info! ;)

Thanks alot mate, that will get me through it...

Well, today I pulled my finger out and with a little help from my friend Kenny we changed the exhaust on the truck... Its one another guy I know made up for his and I got it for the right price and with a little cutting and welding its now on, the truck sounds alot better and, from the rear end looks it too.

Kenny licking the gun, you know, just for kicks!

Kenny hard at it getting the tips on nice and straight.

Thats what I ended up with, looks far better than the standard single dirty rusty old thing!

Bit of black paint cleans the lot up.

The truck has only once made it into my shed, its a pain having 4 cars and only a 2 car garage!

Next down the line, we are going to modify an Xbox 360 console to sit under the middle row centre seat, I was going to put a sub under there but the xbox will be good for media storage as well as the odd bit of car racing etc...

Cheers Dan
