Hoping this is the correct place for this type of question.

My friggn interior door handles on my 2002 XSport are flaking along with the other 'platnium' peices on the dash...

Is there a good aftermarket replacement, or something out there that I can do to remedy this problem? I have done searchs but nothing that I would spend money on.

Thanks. Stig.

Yea, take it back to the dealer and have them "Fix" the problem. I would have them paint everything and then clear over it a good heavy coat. This should all be covered under warranty.

I failed to mention that the scratchs are do to my little brother not paying attention to his watch scratching the driver side handle... He barrowed the sploder last week... :( So I figured it will fall in my lap.. I can probably have the dash peices done by them.. but assumed I will have to eat the door handles do to my brothers Fossil watch.. lol

i think if you talk tot he right guys, they will do it for you. if they are doing the dash already, i dont think doing the handle pieces would be a big deal.

I would just not wear any rings or a watch when you go in and explain that you have no idea why this is happening. Beleve me this is a common problem and they will cover it.

Good deal thanks for the quick replys.. If I have time today I am taking it in anyway.. My clutch is making a horrible noise, I will point these problems out as well.

Thanks Stig

If you want it to last, you should take everything apart and paint and clear coat it yourself. The dealer will/should cover it under warranty but it will be the same parts with the same problems if your not careful. The door pulls will probably fade again due to normal wear and tear, I painted mine back in may, have had no problems and prefer the color to the platinum/graphite color ford chose.

Sounds cool. So what brand of paint and perhaps a HOW is in order.. :D I am listening/reading.. :D

Update.. I had to take the Explorer in for a weird Tranny noise... they have no clue what was wrong, but they replaced the clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, and throw out barring... and that fixed the noise, they found no abuse on the clutch or anything... warranty took care of it.. 5 speed manual by the way.

But on the door handles I had them fixed while it was in the shop... looks like they fixed me up good.. Thanks for the advice.
