Just to add have checked all vent controls are dead with no vacuum at all tried to trace pipes but not easy as manual is for left hand drive and mine is right so some things are not where stated. seen post about loose or disconected vacuum pipes but can't find any.

Fixed It

Just to let you all know
Found the problem The kind people at Ford!!! connected the ball valve the wrong way round swaped pipes and all is honky. Must have been at manufacture vehicle only done 11,000 and ball valve is well hidden under wing between metal and the inner plastic gaurd.
I wonder how many others come out wrong. Stupid design with no labels and identical fittings for in and out on the valve.

can you go into a little more detail about this? mine aren't working either...

Detail

Look near the air filter box on the left hand side looking from the front. Just behind nearer to the bulkhead you should find two black vacuum pipes one has a joint towards the engine and the other has a joint going under the air filter. Then they both disapear under the front wing. When you look under all you can see is the plastic under wing. Undo the two small bolts near the bumper hold the plastic. Pull down gently and you will see a black plastic ball about 6 inches in dia with the two pipes going to it. Unplug both pipes by pulling and change them over. Start the engine and test you can hear the various flaps working and of course feel the air flow ( easier with the fan on max ). If all ok replace the two bolts holding the plastic inner wing and your done. Thats what I did and since then no more problems. It would appear to be a oneway valve to prevent air flow into the manifold. If it has always been like this diconect the battery for ten mins to reset the computer as the air flow will change. Hope this helps.

ummm,

so is it pronounced "lorrie" or "lorry"?

Right! straight away then.

Whats all this , then?

you want a bit of bother?

The accent does not come thru in print, huh?

weebo have you sorted it yet.
Just had the hotest day so far this year 75.
I guess you guys would still have jumpers on..
But now I've got all the vents going its great to be cool.

i've got a related question..

my rear console vents aren't blowing air out anymore either. they worked last night and i can still hear the fan motor or whatever it is reving up as i toggle between low and hi. nothing, not even a light breeze comes out. the front works fine.
is there a way to turn the vents off back there that i am not aware that i did? otherwise, i'll be trying to find out if its clogged up or soemthing.. thanks!

I only have the bottom non controled vents on mine so unless the pipe work has become disconected or blocked that's all I can sugest.
Lift the concole tops up and see.
Good luck.
