dash kit not secure

Hi, I just installed the 9811 Alpine mp3 player in my truck and I used the dash kit with the pocket on the bottom. The instructions suggest that the kit be installed with the pocket on the top, but I installed on the bottom because I think it looks better. My question is how can I secure the dash kit to the dash because I can just pull the dash kit with cd player right out with out alot of force.

on the sleve for the HU..there should be little trianle looking cut outs put the sleve in and push out all the cut outs around the sleve push them so they are up against the plastick of the dash and that will hold it in secure...u dont have to use all of them just the ones that will make contact with the dash

some kits also come with a braket to bolt the frame to the back of the dash or the flood boards

True, they aren't the most secure things in the world. Enough prying would get that out regardless. Just remember to take your faceplate off WHEREVER you are, including home.

mhn3773, you are talking about the metal sleeve that came with the cd player right?
Yea my dash kit came with a bracket to secure the dash kit to the cd player but not to the dash. I plan on taking off the face everywhere even in the garage.

you could add a little epoxy to the sides of the dash kit to make it a little more secure. IMO, those things are pieces of crap. my friend got one in his ranger(same basic truck as an explorer), and an audi tapped him from behind and the dash kit, headunit and all came FLYING out. so my advice would be to use some strong glue around the sides. i would use some 2-ton epoxy - unless you are planning to put the factor headunit back in there in the future.

yah i was talking about that..its just some simple things to bend out..it really only works when u have a 1 din opening because then u can secure all 4 sides..mines in there but i really bent them out...wouldnt u be able to see the apoxy? u could just get a couple of 90degre shelf support things the small ones and rig something up with that u will never see it..just use ur imagination =) itl come to u

I just ran out and pulled the it out and I saw what you are talking about, I can do the left and the right side and that will be secure enough for me. Thanks everybody
