i have no dash lights at the moment. What happens is as soon as I turn the headlight switch on The fuse under the hood usually pops asap. When that happens I have no parking lights, fog lights, or dash. I can unplug the connected on the back of switch that controls the dimming of the dash and all and it won't pop the fuse. Just no dash lights. Any ideas? I've looked at the plug and don't see anything wrong. I have tried a new switch too.

I would get the schematic and a meter and start tracing the wires. Look for broken wires or insulation, and don't rule out a bad connector.

Good luck and patience will be crucial...

Thanks I'll have to try that when I get a chance

I've ruled it down to the illumination plug that goes to the back of the switch. With it unplugged everything is fine just not the dash lights. Where could I get one of these? It doesn't look bad but idk what else it could be

Doubt its the plug with the plug unplugged you are not sending power to the circuit so you wouldn't blow any fuses. you really need a wiring diagram and multimeter to diagnose it correctly. You need to find the wire that's feeding the parking light circuit and see if its shorted to ground. If it is you have to check each wire going to the lights until you've found the problem. Most times a bad connector will show signs of getting hot and be black or melted. Common failure's are the light bulb sockets so that's a good place to start. Don't forget the dimmer for the dash lights not sure if that's built into the switch

The dimmer for the dash is what I leave unplugged and everything works as it should bedsides the dash lights. I'll have to just trace it down.

Ok well I think I figured it out finally.. It was one of two things. I retired my aftermarket radio just to make sure everythingwas good and I fixed my groud to my amp. It wasn't very secure. Thanks everyone who posted an all
