Dashboard Lights

This is no major concern, but still annoying: The lights (or illumination) on my dashboard headlight switch, and also the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel no longer work. Short of ripping apart the steering wheel and dash, I'm at a loss as to how to fix this. Hopefully someone has been through this and knows what to do. Thank you in advance.

Someone posted this a while ago: for the cruise control use part# E5RY-13466-BA , its from a ford contour,and fits perfectly, the bulb is slightly longer but in no way hinders operation. You can carefully pry up the cover over the cruise control switch to get to the bulb. This may break the plastic fingers holding the bulb circuit board, but you can just push it all back in place. The headlight switch bulb is available at ford for about $12.00, or it comes as part of a new headlight switch - approx. $30.00, You have to pull the dashboard front cover to get to this.

Just replaced all the gauge cluster bulbs last night. All of them were burnt out except the tach one. Replaced all of them, even the tach one, they were all 194 bulbs. I replaced them w/ 194LL (long life) bulbs. The cluster is a pain to work on.

You have to:
1. remove two screws under radio and pull radio/heater bezel off( or out of the way is fine
2. remove the knee panel, two more screws and two more that hold on the hood latch.
3. loosen or remove the bolts that hold the metal under the knee panel(there are two screws that hold the cluster panel on behind it, towards the top).
4. three screws above the cluster and the two behind the metal thing and you can remove the cluster trim.
5. the headlight and dimmer wires might have to be disconnected to move it out of the way enough, but need to be plugged back in to test the bulbs
6. four brass colored screws hold the cluster in. Unless you have a manual trans. you will not be able to remove the cluster completely. The gearshift indicator cable gets in the way of that! I was able to tilt the cluster sideways enough to get to the bulbs(gear shift in "1" and tilt wheel all the way down!) The bulbs are held in by black retainers that make a half turn and pop out. remove the bulbs and replace w/ new.
7. find all the screws you took out and put it back together Oh yeah check to make sure you got all the bad bulbs!!!!

this procedure will probably help me in fixing my gearshift indicator which is offset by -1. let me explore this cable i might be able to adjust them.
