I have a wire harness with no cover hanging right behind my oil fill tube and just to the right of the spark plugs. Does anyone have this hooked into anything?

Right where the blue dot is.

You may want to take a look around. I just took a quick look at mine and didn't see anything that was free. I did see a set of wires that plugs into the area by the plugs. Is this it??? Like I said, take a look around and see if it didn't come loose from anything.

leebo,

I do have a wire harness plugged in under the spark plugs. This wire is right next to it and on a different set of wires.

The one plugged in under the spark plugs has yellowish insulation on it, this one has orange. I would think there would be a cap for it if it were a data point, but that might be missing or it should be plugged in somewhere. Here are some better pictures.

The white circle is the data point/power source.

The bottom arrow once again shows the data point/power source. The top arrow is pointing to the bundled wires running across the firewall that the data point/power source is connected to. This is a different bundle than the one plugged in under the spark plugs.

leebo,

Mine is coming off of that wiring bundle that runs across the top of the firewall. Do you see any plug on yours with orange insulation like mine that is plugged into something?

check over by the air con. area by the raditor hoses. Theres a few plugs in that area. That set of wires splits into several different areas. Sorry I can't help more.

leebo,

Thanks leebo. I see you have a 94...this could be a change between my 91 and yours.

Can anyone with a 91 or 92 check and see if you have a loose data point/power source in the area from the photo?

With more people on here today than this weekend, someone has to know what this is and if there's is connected to something.

Bad news still. Both me and MrBoyle have talked about it on the chat room and could think of nothing. I do need to take back a statement. The port is there, but on the right side behind the power box. Not even close to where your's is. Both of us have the same engine and almost everything is the same. Check around the engine and see if you can find the other slot for it.

Sorry.

Thanks!

I appreciate you guys looking into it (I thought this thread was rotting on the ground somewhere) :).

My truck is do for an oil change in about 1000 miles so I will get the guys at the dealership to see what it is. It's on a really short wire, so it can't be plugged into anything too far away. I'm guessing its some sort of data port without a dust cover on it, or perhaps an extra powersource for the sparkplugs, who knows. I'll let you guys know what it turns out to be.

What colors are the wires and how many, only connectors I could find in that area are coil, a chime/warning buzzer connector, the self test port, the fuel relay jumper connection.

I have the 91 wire diagrams, shouldbe able to figure it out if you have number of terminals in connector and a couple of wire colors.

Steve,

Its the one in the pictures above. Its coming off the wires running parrallel to the firewall at the top of the firewall.

I saw the pics, I cant see enough to count the number of terminals, or the colors of the wires leading to them. There are about 15 connectors coming off the firewall that I have listed, so I need some othe rinfo to help me find it.

The shape of the connector looks to be triangular, true?
