Hello, I'm new to the site! my son has a 97 explorer mud truck and wants me to replace the tranny. any suggestions...or prayers?

Welcome to this forum! What kind of problem are you having with the transmission? It might be possible to repair instead of replacing the entire unit.

thanks for the reply, and welcome messages!
i have since located the transmission section and got instruction for the install! should be fun...seriously...but i'll post the progress.
first, it's my 16 yr old son's mud truck, and is a 91, so i'll have to correct that in my profile. tranny only goes in park neutral and first gear, and he already bought another tranny and transfer case so i am going to put them in, and i hope they are good...

got the 4wd transfer case out today, tranny almost out. why do instructions say to put a jack under the motor, when removing tranny? don't motor mounts hold it in? also, looks like everyne is saying to get TQ at least cut and flushed?
