My 1996 ford explorer has 236,000 miles on it. Yesterday as I was going down a long gradual downhill letting it coast to the bottom and all the sudden the transmission started squeeling. I instantly put it in neutral. I came to the red light at the bottom of the hill and stopped. I then put it back in drive and all seemed fine. I changed my transmission fluid about 2 months ago and it shows fine on the dip stick. It was LOUD. It sounded as if it was coming from right under my feet. I have read about this "shift rail bore" issue but this looks like its a TC issue. Could this be my problem? It only did this once and it drives fine still but I am worried. I honestly figured it might have been a torque convertor issue Any help would be awesome!
