I suggest getting a jump start and driving it to a place that can check the charging system and sell you a battery if needed. It could be that the battery is OK, and there is a different sort of problem. Did you by any chance leave anything (interior lights, etc) on that could have drained the battery?

The battery for the Explorer is a 65 series battery. I would highly recommend inspecting and jumping the battery before purchasing a new one. If your battery is not sealed, pop the covers off the cells and inspect them. If they are low, use distilled water to top them off and then charge either via a 12 volt 2/6 amp charger or a jump start for atleast 15 to 20 minutes. Don't forget to look at the battery terminals too. Make sure they are clean and not loose.

so just disttilled water? i didnt mention i have 2 batteries in my truck one in the front one in the back i have 2 gauge cable runing to the back battery, the front one its dead, i was just asking what brand i should get, im turning my truck on with the rear battery, and im afraid the rear battery its not big enough to run everything... its a smaller battery than the one in the front... when i turn up my system i can tell the front battery its gone because the volt metter goes down a LOT like 10 volts or somthing like that.... im gonna look at batteries tomorrow after school

all the battery does [contrary to popular belief] is start the vehicle.... the alternator runs everything after it is started

unless, your truck is broken, or you are trying to pull way more amps than the alternaor can handle [which is a need a new alternator issue, not a inadequate battery issue]

i dont think ur right, with one battery any time the bass hits the lights dim with 2 batteries it dosnt, the alternator runs most of the truck but when it cant suply enough current it starts to use the battery, of course if u have a really good alternator then it will charge better but even with a 200 amp alternator the lights will dimm if u have a good system just because the same 200 amp alternator only puts out 80 amps at idle.... thats why every1 compiting HAS to have multiple batteries because the alternator drops the current any time bass hits.

I am no expert (deaf), but isn't that what a huge capacitor is for?

actually, as i mentioned above, i am right..... with one battery the ligths dim because your system is pulling too much power, you altenator is unable to deliver what it needs, thus having an alternator that is too weak for the application...

2 batteries it doesnt because the batteries is compensating for lack of a proper electrical system.

show vehicle that comptet need multiple batterires as the vehicle is not running and therefore cant use the alternator for its power.....

the battery is for starting the vehicle, after its started the battery is not supposed to do anything except recharge from the alternators power, the alternator should be running everything..... if the alternator is still not enough power, then your alternator is inadequate for it's job and needs to be replaced with a higher output alternator.....

that second battery is a band aid for an alternator that doenst have enough power to do it the right way......

check any car/truck with a decent system in it chances are u will find that most of them if not all will have a second battery just because even with the biggest alternator in this case for the explorer the biggest aftermarket alternator they sell its 200 amps BUT it only produces 80 amps at idle wich is no better than the STOCK alternator so u will be wasting a lot of money with no results... i encourage u to read on audio forums, as u can see i never argued the fact that yeah the alternator its supoused to run everything but if u have a system that requires more amps than it can supply the only way to go its with a second battery.
