Yesterday I noticed my door chime going off while it was not running and this morning my battery was dead....what would cause the chime to come on if its not running?

Thanks

Lights left on or the ignition/aux still on.

Did you pull the vehicle and make sure the light knob was turned all the way off including the backlighting/overhead light?

The lights were off although the previous owner half assed the switch by screwing it thru the dash. I know the ignition is a easy fix but with this lovely weather Ill have to put it off a few days due to the ice storm were having :P
Other than that I havent had any problems with the door ajar chime going off but interior lights were also off so dont know really what drained it

I would check to see how he wired that in, but if you have never had any issues up to now, it may just be that your alternator or battery finally is going out.

Are you sure it wasn't the KEY IN IGN chime? There's a switch that the key activates while it's in the ignition. perhaps the switch is sticking. Squirt a little bit of WD40 in the ignition switch and work the key in and out 10 times to try to free it up.
