01 Explorer Sport
I have a 2001 Explorer Sport. Been one of the better vehicles I've owned, but recently developed a problem.
My wife drove my explorer, and when she put it in the garage, she failed to turn off the headlights. (Her Fusion has the auto lamps)
I get ready to leave for work the next morning and find the battery dead. I have a charger with a boost start on it, so I started the truck right up.
I didn't turn on the radio that morning, but that evening I tried to. Didn't come on, and that's when I noticed the clock and anything else in that panel were dark.
I've checked the fuse in the left end of the dash, and all is good there.
Is there anyplace I should look for something that may be blown?
I can't say for sure that the radio was off when I jumped the battery, but I rarely listen to the radio because I'd rather listen to the mechanical music of the engine.
Also, if the overall consensus is the radio is dead.....any ideas on how to get the 6 CD's out of it?

Is the radio completely dead, or is it only the display? If the latter, it's a very common problem, caused by a bad display power board. Replacements are available and it's an easy repair. Search and you'll find a ton of postings on this subject.
If the radio is totally dead, you are probably better off just replacing it with an aftermarket one.

Sorry to hijack mine randomly now says CD Error and will not load or eject CDs. Anyone seen this?

That's what I was afraid of.
Was hoping there was some secret, hidden fuse that may have blown.
Yeah, the display is dead, but so is the radio.
Guess I'll just replace it and then rip it apart to get my CD's out.
Thanks for your help.
