I NEED SOME HELP IN CHOOSING BETWEEN A 2" AND 3" BODY LIFT FOR MY 97 SPORT. I APPRECIATE ALL OF THE FEEDBACK ON MY PRIOR POST. NOW I NEED TO DECIDE WHICH ONE TO GO WITH. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE EXACT MODIFICATIONS I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE ON EACH OF THE KITS AND THE PART NUMBERS FOR THEM ALSO? WHICH ONE IS EASIER TO DO? THANKS

Just do a search on "body lift" and you will get tons of info on it.

Eric,
Check out this link, http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=24545. This is my 99 Explorer with a 3" body lift. Go with the 3", but read GJarrett's write-up on the 3" in this link http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=15264. Pay close attention to the A/C freon line. I didn't and it cost me $675. Sux... :( You well need to modify your rear bumper brackets to make the lift work. If you need help with this, let me know. I had a guy here in San Antonio modify both my rear bumper brackets, my grill guard brackets, and make me a hidden winch mount. Check it out... :)

I love the winch mount. can you post some more pics of your bumper brackets and the winch mount. is your 2 or 3 inches. also how much did the bumper fix cost also what did you do for the brushguard. what kind of winch is that. thanks SEAL

judging from prior experience of me and some of my friends, go with the 3 inch, theres alot more work involved but if you went with the 2 you would most likely wish you went 3 in the beginning.
just my $.02

First off, I second Bigcheck1's advice! Go with the 3". You'll be able to fit larger tires, and you won't wish you went with the 3" later... If you want, I can post some pics that might be helpful to you if you plan on doing the install yourself.

Second off, thanks jeafseal! I can post some of those pics your requested, at the same time... The rear brackets cost me $50. All he had to do on the front grill guard, was cut 3" off of the middle of the lower brackets and then lengthen the up brackets. The winch is a Warn X8000i...
