ok so me and my friend were sitting in my garage and there was this kentwood deck in there and we thought it would be cool to put it in my exploder (93 xlt premium sound). so we get the deck removal things and get the deck out easy as pie. But when we went to connect wires and what not we didnt know what ot do. i was reading around in the forum and heard about wireing harness and all that stuff, but have no clue what it is. and then i hear about bypassing my amp, (the stock one with the premium system) so if anyone has any tips and advice (pictures would be nice) it would help me out and i will be happy for the holidays. Thanks

call up crutchfield or drive to circuit city. the wire harness is about $10 and the amp bypass is $10-$15

why

do i really need to bypass the amp? i dont know why or why not i would have to

Aftermarket headunits are internally amped, putting out 40-50 watts per channel (4). The Ford headunits 91-97 are externally amped, and the headunit only puts out 5 watts per channel or something. Thus, the Ford external amp bumps up the power. However, most of the times when you connect an aftermarket HU to the stock amp, the power will increase; but the sound will suck and the speakers might cut out.
