Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with destroying their shock bushings I'm onto my second set in 4 months! The top one keeps getting pulled through the mounting hole and is them about the size of a nickel, and useless. Any advice is appreciated.

have you tried 2" over shocks since you tt'd your truck?

nah, don't figure that the suspension magically got any more travel so the stock shocks should still be a good length.

then i'm confused...if you are not reaching a full extension of your shocks, how would they pull thru? i had a mach1 that used to push up thru a shock mount, it was a factory design problem..week mounts

I've had that happen a few times, A few possible options:

1) Get 2" lift shocks.

2) Put the front swaybar back on :)

3) Don't use the crap rubber bushings that come with the shocks. Get larger polyurethane bushings (like the front endlink bushings).

If you're disconnecting the front swaybar offroad and you don't get lift shocks or limit straps, be prepared to break your shocks from time to time.

I'm a little confused, why would they be overextending I haven't done anything to extend the stock travel shouldn't the stock shock length be capable of the full travel without problems?

when you tt'd you took at least 2" of travel off the the stock size shock... thus you are going past your limit and pulling thru...so, you are left with the options ritsui supplied...

That's not really how a TT affects suspension travel. The suspension has a top and bottom determined by whatever stops first (great image huh). All adjusting the torsion bars does is adjust where in that travel ride height is. Unless I'm completely off base here. I'd grab some of the polly bushings, but I didn't see any at Autozone when I was there, and they told me the only thing they had was the generic "fit all" ones.

for an ultimate answer and a place that can hook you up right, email this guy and tell him tbars sent you... steve@dependableoffroad.com.. if anybody could help you, he's the man...i could be wrong, but he knows all...goodluck

Sounds good, btw what's a good way to actually figure out what's stopping first ie: shocks, ball joints (upper or lower) or whatever else could be the limiting factor? I might just say to hell with it until I get the super lift on since it comes with a limit strap anyway. Thanks for all the input btw!

i myself would jack up that side, put a jackstand under the truck, pull the wheel off, and with my foot, push that axle down and look for the limit problem...try it till the shock tries to pull thru...

get longer shocks and urethane mounting bushings, you're overextending the shocks (yea its been said 50 times before :D, just wanted to jump on the bandwagon), a half ass fix is probably straps to keep the suspension from extending past the shock max length. The limiting factor is the shocks thats why they pulled through :wtf:
