Which locker are you looking at? if it's a selectable locker you will have some way to engage it from inside the truck so it's either locked or unlocked when you want it to me. If it's a detroit ez-locker which is an auto locker they do unlock around turns when you're off the gas. If you're going around a turn with your foot on the gas the locker will be engaged and you will get a bit of chirping around turns. I assuming you're looking at a rear locker, I've been running a lockright in my truck for over a year now and the tires will chirp around sharp turns from a stop but other than that it didn't affect handling otherwise.

I dunno i might of confused myself when i was reading their webpage

i though they were talking about the full detroit that locks with a cable... they made it sound like it unlocks through turns and locks when you are going straight, maybe that was the EZ locker i was reading. Eaither way im gonna go with the Full detroit (over ARB). When i go wheeling i go muddin, a little rock climin, but i love driving through streams... its just without lockers you cant hit the big stuff =)

I was thinking maybe an Auburn gear upfront and a full detroit in the rear, but this is a daily driver and i only go wheelin on the weekends.

i dunno, cable, haha it disengages when you want it to, but im still confused... this is what im takling about from the TracTech webpage.

This is their flyer

http://www.tractech.com/docs/DetroitLocker04.pdf

it says it has the "Ability to automatically allow wheel speed differentiation when required"

this is what it says on the Tractech webpage

Differentials- Locking Type (Speed-Sensitive)
Tractech’s locking differentials are the NoSPIN® and Detroit Locker® brands (same product, different market segments), the Detroit E-Z Locker™ and Detroit Gearless Locker™ brands. They keep the wheels locked together (except when turning) so that together the left and right wheels, always deliver maximum traction to the ground; neither wheel can spin out.

So you lock it when you want it locked but it will disengage through a turn? I like the sound of it but i dont at the same time? or am i confusing the fact you can engage it or disengage it... simple as that?

It locks when you hit the gas....and unlocks when you let off the gas. So to turn corners let off the gas for the "open" feeling.

ahh right on, ok thanks man... sorry for being so hard headed =)

I have a full Detroit locker in the rear of my Exploder. They are awesome on the trail. The strongest on the market. There are times I have wished that I spent the couple extra dollars and went with the ARB for more street mannors. You will find that it does ratchet once in a while and will 'unload' when under power once in a blue moon. That means you'll feel a clunk in the rear but that's normal. I have found that running a synthetic blend or a good quality racing gear oil with an additive(not posi lube) that the locker has much better road manners. Amsoil seems to work the best for my locker. I'm out of stock of the good stuff for the moment but will have some around the first of the month if you don't already have a dealer and want a big discount ;).

sounds good, ill hit ya up for some of that gear oil once i get around to spending 1200 bucks on lockers
