diagnose this please............

.........its my gearbox again.
under slow steady accelaration, everything is fine. but, if i put my foot in a bit, say around 3 000 rpm, there is a constant banging sound, which can also be felt, then as it reaches top gear it turns into a high pitched vibration throughout the car.also when reverse is selected and i move off it judders like hell then the juddering stops.

Have you been under the car and checked for anything loose?
look at drop links, anti roll bars, and prop shaft, check prop for missing balance weights, these are usually tacked on at factory, they can come loose and cause vibrations that change. failing that consider your prop bearings.

Which model do you have? is it 4wd or Awd or 2wd? this could be caused at a few places depending on the vehicle.

hi bud, its a 4wd model. a north face, built in 99 but registered over here in 2000.

i have no clue as to what the problem could be. but seeing as though it happens under acceleration i put it down to a gearbox problem.

It could also be in the transfer case or the rearend. Does it happen in every gear?

Oh Also Universal joints will do what you describe when they are about to go, you may want to have a quick look at those.

hi all, i have been under my car and cannot see anything wrong. everything looks in its place and there is nothing obvious missing. so i am gonna start with a box flush and new filter.
