Short version:
Dead battery on my 96 Explorer XLT. Connected jumper cables to another car. Someone put a red cap on the negative and black cap on the positive terminals on other car. Brief sparks. Put it how it was supposed to go and car started. (I know, I should have read the battery instead of going with the colors.)

Now the keypad on my door and the lock remote do nothing at all. I can't even use the keypad to lock the door. They've always worked, including earlier today. The power lock switches inside the car still work. I can't find a specific fuse for the keypad/remote in the manual. The 30amp "Power Lock" fuse under the hood checks ok. Any ideas? This is really aggravating.

I don't think I fried anything inside the car. Radio still works and ABS light comes on (took out that fuse because the pump is bad and always comes on. Did this a long time ago and had no impact on keypad or remote.) Car drives fine.

Thanks so much for the help. I'm sure a shop would charge me an arm and a leg just to figure out what's wrong.

probably firend the lock brain computer in the rear side panel

As posted, the RAP module in the rear cargo panel could be done..... but do some more checking for power. Inside the same panel, the door lock/unlock relays are there. Check for 12v on the BK/W wire(s).... if it isn't there then the fuse link (#5) in the power distribution box is not good. Check the LG wire going to the RAP for 12 volts also.
