Sometimes it will and sometimes it won't.....got the 4.0 V-6...Any suggestions???????....Thanks...George

I am having the same exact problem. Maybe someone will chime in.

I can go check my Haynes in a bit, but if someone else has theirs immediately available, I know there is a part on that.

Don't have a manual in front of me but I believe there is a anti-knock sensor that retards the timing when the engine is shut off to prevent the "dieseling". It threads into the side of the engine block. Sound right?

Engine diesels after being shut off...

1. Idle speed too low
2. Ignition timing incorrect
3. Incorrect spark plug heat range
4. Vacuum leak at the intake maniforld or vacuum hoses
5. Carbon build-up in combustion chambers.
6. Valves sticking
7. EGR system not operating properly
8. Fule injection or engine control systems malfunction
9. Check for causes of overheating

That's what Haynes has as far as trouble shooting for dieseling...I would try running some sea foam and checking the plugs, that would be the easiest to check first.
