Well I changed out the rear diff fluid since I didnt know when it was done last by the previous owner last.
A few things come to mind which may help others.
1) if you have a hoist to lift car on use it.
theres not alot of room under there to manuver and refill (the refill plug is on the FRONT of the pumpkin near drive shaft)
2) its 100x easier to do with the spare tire removed!
3) make sure you fill with 2.75 QUARTS ,almost 3 bottles of the Valvoline 85w140 stuff I used ( converted from 5.5 pints called for by Ford manual) of synthetic AND if you have a LS rear end add 4oz of friction modifier.
4) clean up is easiest with paint thinner( I ran out half way thru job) This is a no brainer BUT..wear your worst work clothes as the gear lube doesnt smell good and will ruin your clothes
Well see next how the tranny drain and refill goes this next weekend. It appears that one of the converters is right under the fluid pan of the auto tranny. that should be fun.
I'll be putting in a drain plug(if its possible w/o putting it in the way of the converter) at the same time to help ease the mess incurred.
