Difference between 55 watt and 100 watt

OK I have a set of PIAA 80 XT PROs on the front of my X but I want to add a little more light around the truck. Namely a set of fog lights mounted to my roof racks pointing sideways and a set of driving beams mounted to my rear roof rack pointing back. Im not looking to spend a lot on this mod. I was going to go with some cheap no name brand JC whitney lights. They have 55 watt light kits for $25 and 100 watt kits for $50. Is there going to be a real difference? Should I bite the bullet and just get the $50 ones?

Personaly I would just go with the $50 kit, it will produce more light. If your interested in the rear lights coming on automaticly when you shift into reverse check out my before and after page:

If the only difference is the wattage, then the 100 watt is just a different bulb. If you want the power, then get the cheaper light and get but some PIAA bulbs.

Go with the 100Watt set. There isnt that much difference in price and they should be a little better quality due to handeling higher wattage.
You can't get lights too bright....

Seriously, there will be a difference between 55 watts and 100 watts, almost twice! . Typically you will be able to notice a difference . THe other advantage like someone already mentioned is the 100 watt set would probably included an upgraded relay and better wiring...

The only thing I have to add, is if you get the kit with the 55 watt bulbs and upgrade to 100 watt, you have to make sure that the fuse can handle it. I upgraded to 100 watt bulbs in my Hella Black Magic 1000's and the 15 amp fuse blew. I had to upgrade the fuse to a 20 amp to hold the extra wattage. Remember, the math works likes this:

100 watts in the bulbs
12 volts in the system

100watts/12volts=8.3333
8.3333 X 2 = roughly 17amps...

A 15 amp fuse wouldn't hold that. Just check the fuse first. Otherwise you'll have the same problem
