difference between a AAL & a helper spring?

What is the difference between an AAL and a helper spring? I want to raise the back of my X about an inch or so. Should I use an AAL or helper springs? Or is there even a difference?

theres already a helper spring there it the smallest one on the bottom. you need to get an aal.
