Does anyone else notice that the temperature on the MFT Screen and by the instrument cluster are often different? It is almost always out by 1 deg..usually when the temperature is dropping or when I turn the Explorer on.

Anyone else notice this?

I was wondering how long it would take before someone brought that up. I find that they will usually even out out after a while. I also noticed that it was the occasionally that way on the earlier versions before they removed the temp indicator from the MFT screen. I find the MFT temp display is usually 1 degree C lower. No big deal.

Mine is the other way around..MFT is 1 deg C higher.

Yes, I've seen this too.

Another fun one is when your instantaneous fuel efficiency graph shows that you are currently being more efficient than your average, however, the average goes the other way.

Does anyone know where the temperature sensor is on the vehicle?

The temperature on my dashboard and the main SYNC display simultaneously display temperatures that are usually about 1 degree off from each other, what are they actually reading:dunno:. I disabled the main SYNC one on the center console from settings for now.

If you look at the lower bumper opening (grill) in the front you can see it on the driver's side.

The temperature difference is due to rounding. When you have a difference in the reading, convert the unit to Fahrenheit & you'll notice that will both give the same reading. It it is only is also consistent, meaning, at the same F reading, the MFT & cluster will always give the same reading. Since we don't get the same colder temps as in Canada, my example is different, but you get the idea:
Always at 86 Fahrenheit, both displays read 30 Celsius. (86 F equals exactly 30 C)
Always at 87 Fahrenheit, Main display reads 30 Celsius, instrument cluster reads 31 Celsius. (87 F equals 30.5556 C, so each display is rounding differently)
Always at 88 Fahrenheit, both read 31 Celsius. (88 F equals 31.1111 C).

MFT needs to programmed to round in the same way as the cluster, I say MFT because it can be updated. But since in the US they use Fahrenheit, there is a very slim chance of that happening! I reported it long ago to the FordIVTteam, but there reply was to contact Ford's customer service in my region (Middle East) who have nothing to do with this issue, nor do they understand it!!).

Did you realize the post you responded to is more than 5 years old and the OP hasn't been here since July 2016? It doesn't invalidate the answer though.;)

strange how they round off differently, looks like team responsible for each unit should have sent a few emails to confirm they were on the same page :drunk:

Don't look at me. Reserved50 bumped the thread when he responded to it.

don't look at me either, it got merged with this thread then automatically got bumped ...points fingers

Well maybe if peter posted his usual “your thread has been merged with this one” then maybe I would have noticed. :(
