Has anyone tried and gotten their reimbursement approved from Ford for replacing there Firestone tires with non-approved brand and size (one's that are not from Ford's approved list)?

Wondering if I would get reimburse if I bought Dunlop Radial Rover A/T (255/70-15) to replace my Firestone Wilderness AT (235/75-15); here's a chance to buy wider tires for free...

When I called firestone they told me that I could buy what I want... But that I had to pay the difference if they were more than $110 per tire for 15"...

I just got 255's and got no problems with ford

I got 30x9.50x15 BFG Mud Terrains for my replacement, I've also received my check from ford already for $440.

I got my new 265-75-16s from Les Schwab Tires and took the old 255-70s back to the dealer who had a $650 check waiting for me on the spot for 5 tires @ $130 ea.).

The day before I pointed out to the dealer that I understood it was the dealer's discretion to pay me now or send a check later and that I wanted the money now. They did.

Don't blow your chance to get the tire brand and size you really want. Now...if I could just find a set of Firestones at the junk yard for $10 and do it again....hmm

ACBlessing, you got a check on the spot from your dealer? How did you do that? How does it work? Is this an option from Ford that no one knows about?

Yes. The day before getting new tires, I went to the dealer and told them I was aware it was up to them to reinburse me on the spot or have me wait for a check. First they said they'd send me a letter which would detail when I could bring my X in for tire replacement...and I said I felt terrified with the Firestones (lol) and that I was going to replace my tires that day by myself. I also said I could not afford that and I needed the money right away.

Then I went to my tire dealer and got the premium tires I've been drooling over and took the Firestones back to the Ford dealer who handed me a check from Frod Corp for $650.

The important thing here is that you let them know THAT YOU KNOW about their ability to pay you on the spot or have you wait for a mailed check and that for economic reasons, you NEED the money right away. Make it seem like your wife's and kids' lives are in danger of either a roll over of not enough food on the table (from you having to buy tires today).

I'm not saying this is a surefire thing but it certainly worked for me and it just depends on how compelling you seem. You have to give them a reason to pay you on the spot.
