Different twist on interior light issue......

Hey guys, I just got registered and this is my first post. I have read all the info here regarding the int lights, door ajar, and WD 40 fix. My issue is (2000xls), open any door and no light comes on, the overhead lights can be turned on and off manually, and the door ajar light stays on. I have been unable to get any int lights other than manually operating the overheads. What am I missing? Where do I start looking for lights to come on when a door opens? Thanks

does this happen with all doors, or just the driver's door?

If none of the doors will turn on the interior lights (but the dimmer switch will) it might be the GEM. Have you checked your fuses? I assume the rear window and lift-gate aren't turning on the lights either. There is a way to test the GEM (using downloaded software and a smart phone). someone here did this in the past couple of weeks and found his GEM was fried. he had a lot more problems than just his interior lights though.

As the power for the interior lighting runs though the dimmer switch, I suppose it is also possible the problem is there. Just a thought...
