Just under 2 QTS. So 2 bottles

You can download your owner's manual at the link below. It has wealth of information in it to include maintenance items.

Is it ok to add one bottle of

Ford Genuine Ford Fluid XL-3 Friction Modifier Additive - 4 oz to the exissting oil, because i hear like whining when accelerating then it disappear if do not accelarte mainly at 60 to 80 km/hr speeds.

Friction modifier is typically used in limited slip differentials. This was an option for Explorers so check to see if yours has limited slip differentials. If it doesn't then adding the modifier is not needed and likely won't do anything if it is added.

Thanks again for the professional reply. However, how could I know if my ford explorer 2010 v6 4.0 ltr has limited slip differentials please !

Limited slip axle codes should start with the letter D or L.

Whining means rear or front axle pinion backlash out of the specs or bad carrier/pinion bearings

I’m pretty sure the limited slip option went away in 2006 or so it used to be part of the 3.73 axle option on the V6 if I recall correctly. I think it had something to do with the traction control/stability control integration

2010 explorer is Open differential, although day before yesterday, I have added Ford additive hoping to reduce the Whining, but no benefits so far and this what I was told by 94Eddie id=4051336

friction modifier is for the clutch packs. It does nothing for bearings or gears. An OPEN diff is a 1 wheel peel diff (ie NO CLUTCHES) Whiining is either a bearing or a pinion gear that has moved (via bearing death or possibly pinion nut backed off)

In YOUR case of whining under LOAD ONLY would indicate the INNER pionion bearing is the issue. If it was on decell it would be the outer pinion beearing.
