Difficult shifting into first gear

Hi everyone,

longtime deskjockey here,, i just bought a 1995 exlprer xlt,, manual trans,,,, it is tough to get into first gear only,,, i would like to diagnose/repair it myself,, any thoughts or help?,, thanks

Check the gear linkage first, clean and lubricate it- whilst you are down there lookk also for any bent pieces of linkage or bar-replace if you find any.

After that you can suspect your clutch fork and look at its range of movement as its depressed. It should hinge nice and not move back and forth.

Try bleeding it, it may help for awhile.
