I want to do the 00M12 fix myself and I want to know what sort of things can go wrong to avoid them. I hear that I'm suppose to plug the intake holes so I don't get anything in them....but what else?

I'm a young do-it-yourselfer for most of everything in my life but haven't done any major car work aside from basic maintenance, KKM install, shocks, MAFS cleaning, fogs and stuff like that.

Is this realistic to do? I'm going to do it over Spring Break should I should have a full week to do it.

Also, the chain tensioner just screws out with some torx bits and the new one slides right in? Or is there adjustments involved with it?

I've read the write up, but want to double check these things before I jump into this project and make sure I have everything I need to do it.

Mike.. you could easily do this yourself. Annabanana did this on her Sport and I only supervised (okay, I was being taught :D ). But yeah, it would be very worth your time and energy to do this yourself and save some cash while learning more about the inside of your ride. :p

i take it you have too many miles to do it for free the intake gaskets should be easy i don't know about the chain tensioners

I'm under the mileage limit, but my '98 was built in late '97 so I thought I had some more time to get it done, but nope.

I'm really interested in doing it myself since so many people say it's pretty easy. What about the tensioner though? Just pull out the old one and plug in the new one?
