Can anyone please tell me where the "key in ignition ding, ding" is located? I had a 1992 exploreer, and had no problem locating that device, however in my 1999 explorer I have not been able to pinpoint the sound to locate it to take it out. Thanks for any help I can get, Ken

I have a '97 Explorer, got really annoyed with the ding when trying to listen to music with all the doors open. I took off the driver's side door panel trying to find what mechanism it is that is checking that the door is shut, but no luck. I would also like to hear any input from people who might have successfully disabled the ding ding ding...

I believe its buried in the dash somewhere but I'm not 100%

its in the ecm the thing next to the radio from what i could find. and you can't take that out. (it stopped when i diconnected the wires from it)

Its the black box beside the radio (ie between steering wheel and radio). You have to remove the wiring harness, pull the black box out, open it up, and unsolder the black circle thing that is the size of a quarter, about 1cm tall and has about a 1/8th hole in the top of it. You will need to unsolder 2 terminals.
