Ok, here's the story....

Have an '03 XLS bought new.
The vehicle came with power locks and the two remotes.
Dealer said vehicle was pre-wired for the keyless entry,
and low and behold, has a 5 digit the code card.
However, the vehicle didn't come with a keypad.

So, I go online, and buy the keypad from FordPartsForLess (~~$120). It is just the kepad, with some sticky stuff on the back to stick it to the door, b-pillar, etc....you're choice. No wiring/drilling at all!
The keypad comes with its own code card.

First, I try the code that came with the truck. No Dice.
Ok, no biggie, I go through the keypad programming sequence with the two remotes, and then use the code that came with the accessory keypad. I'm in business.!
:D Keypad works (using the code it came with), and both remotes are now programmed correctly.

However, using the proceedure in the owners manual, I can't use the keypad to disable the autolocks. All of the other functions of the keypad work (unlock all doors, lock all doors, open the rear glass, etc.)

The proceedure in the manual to disable the autolocks says turn the ignition off, enter the keypad code, then hold 3-4, additionally hold 7-8, then release 3-4, then release 7-8, with horn chirps in between.

Am I not holding them down long enough?

Can I disable autolocks using an ignition sequence or something?

MUCH THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

You can disable the autolock feature without the keypad I believe. I'll double check my manual and let you know.

If anyone knows the sequence, feel free to post it first.
