if you´ve moved the little pin or lever near the door latch, that´s it, but.... if it wont open from the inside after this, and the inner handle is a bit out of place (a bit misaligned), you will most likely need to replace the complete inner handle, since the plastic gears that move the mechanisms must have broken, it´s a pretty easy job, i´ve done it on both back doors, just remember to clean and lube the whole mechanisms to avoid it from happening again.

Thanks. I will give it a try. It has been like this since I got the vehicle.

an '06 shouldn't need new handles (but I guess it's possible). I'd bet the locks are switched on...

good point... missed the 2006 limited part on his user specs.

i found this

Has there been a thread on how to disable the child lock in the back?

hope it helps:

CHILDPROOF DOOR LOCKS
When these locks are set, the rear
doors cannot be opened from the
inside. The rear doors can be
opened from the outside when the
doors are unlocked.
The childproof locks are located on
rear edge of each rear door and
must be set separately for each
door. Setting the lock for one door
will not automatically set the lock
for both doors.
Move lock control up to engage the
lock. Move control down to disengage childproof locks.

you bet!
