91 explorer child locks stuck

Cant get the pesky child locks to cease and desist...stuck on lock-any suggestions for this? Not sure if this will pose a problem for inspection but its annoying for back seat passengers-not that i have that many

...i believe it's a common problem on the first gen's...the little plastic piece inside is warn or broke so it will not unlatch the child proof...i'm not sure if there is a thread to a fix but i would do a search for child locks...

Hey beachfairy have you fixed your ex? This is a couple months old thread but my 95 ex is having that issue and I feel like a cop having to open the back doors for anyone that rides along.

Had troubles - wasn't with the kids...

I was having the same troubles with the left rear on my 91 XL, but turns out it wasn't the child-proof locks, but rather a problem with the interior handle.
I ended up replacing it with one from the salvage yard - fixed it right up.
