disc brake conversion

Is it necessary, or advised to change out the master cylinder when replacing rear drum brakes with a set of disc brakes....

Your '01 sport already has discs. If you're changing to discs on a '91-'94 Explorer you do not have to change the master cylinder, you do have to adjust the pushrod length though. That's done by just screwing it out a little.
 






My 01"sport trac has discs in the fornt, but drums in the rear, I wanttoconvert the rear to discs.

I think all ST have drums in the rear. There was a big ole discussion about this a while back with people arguing which was the better setup for vehicles with rear loads. :confused:
