Hey gang,
Thought I'd post my own thread on this minor issue / fix, basically to ADD to some info of this thread >> 1/2" PEX = Door Anti-Rattle Fix
This is possibly another 95-97 versus 98 -2001 difference......that being my 95 stricker shaft is smaller diameter than pasted thread examples.
So that aside, I immediately thought of gutting some marking pens, if only there was a make/model of pen that was PERFECT, and THERE IS ! See pics.
So if you have a 95-97 and even if you're not experiencing door rattle driving on poor roads NOW....you will soon...so head to your local Dollar tree / dollar store and drop a $1 on the following brand / description while they STILL carry them. Angle grinder with cutting blade/ or circular saw masonary blade and portable belt sander or file and you'll have 4 mass produced within minutes. ** At one end of inside of pen there's three short protruding guides....discard this part and use rest of pen.
(Love not having a RATTLE MACHINE anymore going down subpar streets)

Thanks but that's still $10 for just two with shipping...not bad at all ...but I drove 2 minutes to this Dollar Tree and got these instantly for a $1.25...covers all doors. I did put those ones on my Ebay watchlist just the same. ...and with the confusion on sizes on all these threads I got ones I KNOW work and don't have to spend/ wait for shipping to find out these ebays dont work with my T-47 bolt when everyone else with newer Exp are mentioning having a T-50 bolt, thus indicating / potentially a larger shaft in THEIR Explorers.

When I get a chance Im planning to print these bushings out of something like Polycarb or ideally PEEK if I get my hands on it.

Good idea! If you want a better color match, you could probably roam around Staples or OfficeMaxDepotSomething and find black tubed markers... but not that inexpensive.

I got lazy and bought ready made for my '98 and after putting one of them on, it was surprising how easily my rear driver's side door was latching and unlatching. I kept thinking it wasn't closing all the way but it has never flown open by itself, on curves.

I mean it never unlatched this easily, making me suspect that from the factory, it wasn't aligned as well as my random luck guesstimation got it. Either that or the replacement bushing is a slightly smaller diameter but the door doesn't rattle. I had also traced around the base with a marker before removing it, so I had something to go by.
