Do i need overdrive??

I bought my X two years ago, and apparently it didn't have overdrive when i bought it. It runs and shifts perfectly fine. ITs a 92 and i always wonderd why my moms 94 shifted at about 60 when mine didn't, but i figured it was just a different tranny.
Anyways, i took it to a transmision guy to fix a leak i had and he said that my overdrive was out. He said he thinks its just a solinoid that is out and i won't cause anymore damage driving around with out over drive. How much does i roughly cost to have this fixed. and do i really need to fix it.
IVe been driving around in OD it just doesn't shift, and OD and D ride exactly the same.

Don't know about the cost to fix it, but the only thing it will hurt to drive it around with out OD, is your gas mileage.

yeah, i dont know about the price either, but why dont you ask the transmission guy who you took it to orginally?

youll be fine without your OD, but like mrboyle said, youll lose out on some gas mileage, but mostly only on highway driving.
