Anyone ever done a tint job for the very first time on a X? I wouldn't think the back 3 windows would be hard but I did you have a hard time with the smaller side windows (2 Doors) and the door windows?

I've done mine, and not had any problems. Just take your time.

MAke sure you get every air bubble out. That is the hard part.

I tried once on my old X and it was a pain in the ass and I f'ed it up anyway. So I just get it done now.

The back windows arent bad, with the exception of the tailgate, that things a biotch. Lots of stretching and shrinking with the heatgun to make that one fit.
Another thing to consider is that good quality tint isnt available very readily. That stuff at walmart etc is crap compared to what shops actually use.
Give Llumar a call, and buy some decent tint if you are actually gonna try it.

If this is your first tint you just have to try it yourself because the instructions make it seem so easy. Believe me it's not. I've seen my tint guy in action and there's more to it than what the instructions say.

This is one of those things that you just have to have the professionals do it.

i concur- i helped with my friends subaru- we did all the windows.. 5 in total.. and we only really started to get it down to being pretty good by the last 2.

With the cost of quality tint rolls and the size of explorer windows- it just makes more sense to pay somebody else to do a 10 times better job and have it warrenteed.

I mean look to pay 20 bucks a roll for the quality stuff. and u will need a roll for every 2 windows. Plus a solution for cleaning the windows.. and good firm tinting squeegee.. yer at like 60 bucks by the time its all said and done.. and it wont look as good as a proffesional job..

A good trick to do is have some one sit on the inside of your ride with a high powered light and shine it though the window (if you are useing DARK tint) makes it easyer to cut.

I spent a total of $27.46 for my little tint job. That was only 2 rolls of tints. The others can be easily obtained by household products.

For the solution, I got an old spray bottle and filled with dishwasher/water mix. I used a utility knife replaced with a very sharp blade. Then I used a credit card to get the bubbles out because I couldn't find anything.

Yeah, I know. It may sound ghetto, but the result is pretty much the same as getting them tinted professionally...minus the lifetime warrenty.
