I recently began having problems starting when cold. It cranks over fine. Happened to me three times so far when the temperature was just below -20 Celsius or -4 farenheit.

So it cranks fine and as soon as the engine starts i have to hold the gas for around 30 seconds or it will die right away.

Need help where to start with this.

I guess i should mention 98 explorer with the 4.0 SOHC.

And probably a good idea to replace, cleaning usually (in my experience) just buys time.

I did clean it 2 months ago with electrical contact cleaner that leaves no residue. Maybe you are right, I should just replace it.
