does the explorer have a 8.8 rearend?

i thought so but wanted to double check.

its been awhile since i owned my explorer and forgot almost everything about it haha ;)
 






It is a Ford 8.8, but the components are not universal. Width, bolt pattern, spline counts, etc can be different from other 8.8s. Was there something in particular that you were looking at in regards to the 8.8? Or just asking for general knowledge?:)

was pretty much a general question.

but i was wondering if the gears from a mustang would fit in the rear end of an exploder.
 






yes they will, but only the gears; not a limited slip (unless from a Cobra with 31 spline axles) or other components.
